"Are we showing up when people ask ChatGPT?" 98% of search professionals got that question in the last year. You can ask ChatGPT the same thing a buyer would and see who it recommends.
Also, what about doing SEO research? ChatGPT will find and list keywords for you.
Below are seven ChatGPT SEO tools out of the 49 we went through: what each one does, whether it works on your ChatGPT plan, and what it costs.

Why Use ChatGPT SEO Tools?
Find out whether ChatGPT recommends you
A buyer types your category into ChatGPT and gets three companies shown. No report you own says whether one of them was you.
-
Track your mentions month over month: SEOFOMO's 2026 survey found 98% of search professionals were asked about AI visibility last year. A tool runs the same prompts every month, so you see the direction.
-
Show a client where they stand: You get a visibility score per AI assistant, checking against the pages you published in between.
-
Decide whether AI search deserves budget: 46% of the survey's respondents put AI search at 5% or less of revenue. Which prompts you lose, and who takes them, is what matters.
Get the SEO work done in the chat window
-
Stop checking every figure in a second tool: ChatGPT has no volume, intent or SERP data, so it makes up the keyword difficulty you ask for, but other tools can provide it.
-
Stop rewriting every ChatGPT draft: Three SEO friends named the same issue: the copy reads as not human, but you can improve that.
What to Look For in ChatGPT SEO Tools
These are the factors that separate one ChatGPT SEO tool from another. We checked every one below on all of them.
-
Whether it does the work or tracks what ChatGPT says about you: Some put SEO data and page analysis inside your chat window, and others report where you get named when somebody asks an assistant what to buy.
-
What ChatGPT plan it needs: A GPT works on any plan, free included. An app from OpenAI's directory needs Go or above. A connector you paste in needs developer mode, which Free and Go accounts don't have.
-
Where its answers come from: A vendor's live API, your own Search Console numbers, the page you hand it, or ChatGPT's own reply to the same question. A tool can skip its own data source unless the prompt names it, and you're left with the model on its own.
-
How much it costs: Some are free. Subscriptions start at $23 a month, one is a single payment.
Top ChatGPT SEO Tools
The tools below split two ways. Some do the SEO work inside ChatGPT. Others chase what ChatGPT says about you. After that they divide on where the numbers come from: live data, or the model's memory.
1. HeyCompetitor: Revenue-focused AI Visibility and Content Creation

HeyCompetitor does keyword and prompt research, then creates a content plan of buying-intent articles, prioritized by revenue and speed. Next, domain experts can optionally write and publish them for you, as well as measure the impact.
What's good:
- Every page on the list carries an estimate in dollars, so you sort by money and not by traffic.
- Difficulty to rank, or to be recommended by AI, is calculated for your specific site. That isn't the number everyone else gets.
- Prompts in the set are real human ones, expanded with variations built from its own data, so a model invented none of them.
What's not great:
- Writing, tracking and attribution come with the ongoing service, so what you get for $149 is the research.
- It costs more up front than a tool that only tracks AI visibility, or one that only does keywords.
Cost:
You can start without a card, which gets you the revenue estimate and the top articles to write, and the full report waits behind a payment of $149, once, for a single site. A subscription is the step above, quoted on the pricing page.
2. Serpstat: Keyword Data Without Leaving the Chat

Serpstat is a general SEO platform for keywords, rankings, backlinks and audits, and the plan you need for ChatGPT is the one it sells to agencies. Serpstat's SEO data reaches ChatGPT through a GPT now, rebuilt after OpenAI retired plugins, with a free second GPT beside it.
Serpstat says its GPT pulls live numbers instead of answering from what it already knows. The other way in is an MCP server, a connection you add to ChatGPT yourself.
What's good:
- The SEO Copywriting Brief Generator, a separate GPT, is free with no Serpstat account.
- Its main GPT is published in the store today, and Serpstat says it queries the API and not the model's memory.
- One sign-in gives you access to 63 Serpstat tools, and the hosted version needs no install.
- Serpstat's own AI-visibility screen, inside the app and not in the chat, reports how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and more than 140 other models describe your brand.
What's not great:
- Both ChatGPT routes spend Serpstat API credits, and the Individual plan has none.
- MCP access needs a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise workspace, and only an admin can turn it on.
- Starting the trial takes a card, charges $1 to verify it, and rolls into the paid plan on day eight unless you cancel.
Cost:
Seven days free, then Team at $129 a month is the cheapest plan with API credits. Each module has its own credit pool, and topping one up costs more per credit than the plan charges.
3. Ahrefs: If You Already Pay for This SEO Suite

Ahrefs is an SEO suite for professionals. An MCP server hands its keyword and backlink numbers to ChatGPT, and Brand Radar puts your buyers' prompts to the assistants and reports who gets named. We've used Ahrefs for keyword research and competitor analysis for more than five years.
What's good:
- Ask ChatGPT about keywords or backlinks. Numbers come out of Ahrefs' own database, with no export and no spreadsheet in between.
- Ahrefs has already collected the responses the AI Visibility Index reports, so you type a brand name and get an answer with no setup.
What's not great:
- Monthly allowance runs out very fast.
- The visibility index is thin for a brand with little search volume or new niches.
Cost:
The MCP starts at $129 a month on Lite, and a standalone Custom Prompts package is $50 a month.
4. Profound: For Watching What AI Says About You

Profound is for large companies. Target, Walmart, Figma, MongoDB and US Bank are among its customers.
It checks prompt answers daily, and uses the real app instead of the API, so the results are the closest to what a regular potential customer would see. Also, the company has recently introduced automations to help you draft pages you'd need to edit.
What's good:
- Agents do the writing. An article, brief or landing page goes straight into WordPress, Sanity, Contentful or Adobe Experience Manager.
- Agent Analytics shows which AI crawlers hit which pages, and how many times, from server and CDN logs, on unlimited domains and every plan.
- On G2 it has 4.5 stars out of 5, from 1,129 reviews, which is pretty decent.
What's not great:
- 100 Agent credits a month gets you an unknown number of runs.
- The Starter tier tracks ChatGPT, and both self-serve plans get one region and one language.
Cost:
A free AEO Report needs a URL and a work email, and it arrives in your inbox. Growth has a seven-day trial, and paid starts at $99 a month.
5. Aleyda Solis' Content Helpfulness and Quality SEO Analyzer: Scoring a Live URL Against Google's Guidance

This one is a saved prompt created by Aleyda Solis. You hand it your URL, plus the target keyword you want it to rank for, and it grades that page against Google's own helpfulness guidance.
We tried it with stripe.com for "online payment processing" and got 7.5/10, as well as the recommendation not to use that query for the homepage.
What's good:
- The GPT reads the page during the chat rather than answering from memory. We asked to grade stripe.com and it said "I browsed the page just now". It caught the redirect to Stripe's Australian copy, which isn't something a model can do from memory.
- It scores each criterion out of 10, with what works, what doesn't, and what to fix.
- It has a decent 4.2 stars from 326 gptstore.ai ratings, which matches what the store shows, over more than 25,000 conversations.
What's not great:
- Run the Analyzer twice and the scorecard changes. We gave it the same page and the same query six days apart. The verdict held both times, but the criteria didn't: helpfulness and search intent were one score the first time and two the second.
- Whenever its author stops maintaining it, it's gone, and nothing says when it was last updated. At least four other GPTs in the store have a similar name, and one calls itself a newer version.
Cost:
Free on any ChatGPT account. Reach the free tier's model limit and GPT access pauses until ChatGPT resets it.
6. Amanda Jordan's Schema Advisor: When You Need Schema Markup Written

Amanda Jordan's Schema Advisor drafts JSON-LD. You submit a URL, it figures out which schema.org type fits, reasons about the entities on the page, and returns a block for you to use.
Its store page calls it an expert in one property, additionalType. We tested it and asked for markup including that property.
What's good:
- The markup describes what's on it now. It read Stripe's homepage, chose
OrganizationoverProduct, and said why: Stripe is a platform with many products rather than a single product page. - It scores well on gptstore.ai, at 4.4 stars from 62 ratings across more than 1,000 conversations.
- It nicely returns a whole JSON-LD block with the properties filled in, and not a description of what your markup should contain.
What's not great:
- It invented the one property it is named for. Asked for Stripe's
additionalType, it returnedwikidata.org/wiki/Q1549332, which is Kavhan, a commander-in-chief of the First Bulgarian Empire. The URI is well formed and it resolves, so nothing about the output looks wrong until you open it.
Cost:
Free on every ChatGPT plan.
7. Google Search Console MCP with Windsor.ai: When the Numbers Have to Be Yours

Windsor.ai gets your own Search Console data into ChatGPT. You install the Windsor.ai app from ChatGPT's own directory, connect Search Console, and then ask about your own queries, clicks and positions without leaving the chat.
We use Windsor for our own Google Ads reporting because it makes it super fast and easy to get data without having to ask developers to set up a Google Cloud Platform account. It also allows easy configuration of permissions, so that you don't accidentally make changes in your account or hit a rate limit that bans you.
Windsor is for individual marketers and enterprises. The data comes off your account through Google's API, which AI can't do alone.
Bear in mind Search Console lags two to three days by itself, and a saved copy can make the figures outdated.
What's good:
- You set a source up once, instead of creating and configuring a separate account for each tool.
- Windsor's connector reads 10 metrics and 42 dimensions, so a question can split queries by device, country, date or search appearance.
- Every one arrives tagged branded or not. Your brand name separates from your product terms, with no rule to write.
- Search Console's own export stops at 1,000 rows, while Google's API returns up to 25,000 in a single request.
What's not great:
- There are no refunds, not even on a month you prepaid, you can't pause a subscription, and an unpaid invoice for a delivered period blocks canceling until it's settled.
- Free gives you one data source and 30 days of history, and it can't backfill, so a year-on-year question needs a paid plan.
- G2 shows a solid 4.4 out of 5 from 90 reviews and a mixed 3.5 from 64 on Trustpilot, where the complaints are about billing.
Cost:
A 30-day trial gives you 10 connectors, and the Forever Free plan after it keeps one, permanently and without a card, while Basic is $23 a month with unlimited rows on every plan and no overage.
Their support team is very good. We needed some extra days for a trial and got two additional weeks for free.
