ChatGPT Ads launched in 2026, so these are ranges from a young channel, not targets to hit. They come from what advertisers and measurement firms have published so far, plus the campaigns we run.
Click-Through Rate (CTR) Benchmarks in ChatGPT Ads
The average CTR in ChatGPT Ads is between 0.5% and 0.99%.
Let's see how to compares in variation, ad channel and format.
What Is a Good CTR in ChatGPT Ads?
A good click-through rate in ChatGPT Ads is 1% or higher in most cases, while 1.57% or beyond is excellent.
| CTR | Assessment | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| < 0.50% | Low | Below the median |
| 0.50%–0.99% | Average | Normal range |
| 1.00%–1.56% | Above average | Top 25% |
| ≥ 1.57% | Very high | Top 10% |
While data varies by industry, product and campaign specifics, aggregated insights show that <0.50% is a low CTR, 0.50%–0.99% is a normal one, 1.00%–1.56% is strong, and ≥1.57% is a very high click-through rate.
To make decisions, we recommend comparing primarily with competitors rather than raw averages, and mostly your own historical data. Also, bear in mind CTR alone doesn't predict conversion rates and ROI.
ChatGPT Ads CTR vs. Other Ad Channels and Ad Formats
At a 0.68% average click-through rate, ChatGPT ads get almost twice as many clicks per impression as display banner ads, which average 0.35%. Podcast audio ads are slightly ahead at 0.75%, and paid search ads lead by a wide margin at around 4%.
| Channel | Average CTR | CTR range |
|---|---|---|
| SEM (paid search ads) | 4% | 3–5% |
| Podcast (audio ads) | 0.75% | 0.5–1% |
| ChatGPT Ads (conversational ads) | 0.68% | 0.5–0.99% |
| Display (banner ads) | 0.35% | 0.2–0.5% |

Cost Benchmarks: CPC, CPM, CPL & CPA for Ads inside ChatGPT
Getting started costs little: the entry fee is $25 per day, per campaign (about €15/day in euros), and there has been no other minimum advertiser commitment since May 2026.
These are some early estimates of what each cost metric looks like today:
| Cost metric | ChatGPT Ads | Against other channels |
|---|---|---|
| CPM | $25 to $45 | Below LinkedIn ($39.19), above paid social |
| CPC | $1.50 to $9+ | Max bid guidance: $3 to $5 per click |
| Cost per signup (CPA / CPL) | ~$80 in B2B SaaS | 18.1% below Google Ads, 30% below paid search |
| Minimum spend | $25 per day, per campaign | No minimum advertiser commitment |
CPM (Cost per Thousand Impressions)
A thousand impressions (CPM) costs $25 to $45 on ChatGPT Ads today, and prices are coming down as inventory grows. Some advertisers report a narrower $25 to $35.
Ads that have been running a while get cheaper still, down to $15 at the lowest, likely because the platform learns who to target as it collects data on the campaign.
ChatGPT Ads is still the second most expensive channel per thousand impressions, behind LinkedIn and several times the cost of social:
| Channel | Average CPM |
|---|---|
| LinkedIn Ads | $39.19 |
| ChatGPT Ads | $25 to $45 |
| Google Display | $10.33 |
| Instagram Ads | $7.63 |
| Facebook Ads | $4.82 |
| TikTok Ads | $3.02 |

CPC (Cost per Click)
The cost-per-click is about $1.50 to $9+, depending on category, competition and how much intent the conversation carries. The officially recommended max bid is $3 to $5 per click, but you might get good results with a lower one, or need to go up.
Please note that your own CPC changes with your CTR: the better the targeting and ad matches the conversation, the less each click costs.
Cost per Signup or Lead (CPL / CPA)
What a signup costs is most often reported as cost per lead (CPL), and sometimes as cost per acquisition or action (CPA), depending on the goal the campaign optimises for. CPA can be any conversion, from a form fill to a purchase.
A Jotform campaign paid a lower cost per signup than paid social, and 30% lower than paid search. One of our own campaigns, for a product analytics SaaS, reached an 18.1% lower cost per signup than Google Ads, at ~$80 per signup over 28 days.
The signup cost in a ChatGPT ad is sometimes higher than on paid social, but the intent tends to be higher too: People who click the ad reach the landing page already knowing what the product does.

Conversion Rate Benchmarks
Jotform converted 10%+ of ad clicks into signups, several times what a paid search click typically returns. LegalNature saw ~40% engagement on the landing page it sent ChatGPT Ads traffic to.

Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) Benchmarks
Early advertisers report a 2-7x return on ad spend, with Newegg and Stream among them. The variation is wide because the channel is young, and the exact offer and targeting play a big role.
Talkpal ran a comparison experiment and found that ChatGPT Ads returned more per dollar than that an established native advertising channel did.
